Accessible Recreation on the Canals Forum Rocks Rochester!

This is an exciting year as the opening of Bicentennial celebrations will commence on the Erie Canal! And RAA is thrilled to be a part of the growing momentum to ensure people with disabilities have equitable access both in their hometown villages and as destination travelers all across the Erie Canalway.

The “Accessible Recreation on the Canalway” Forum held on April 10, 2024, at Monroe Community College was tremendous in so many ways. Curated with engaging and experienced panelists, including Chief Disability Officer, Kim Hill Ridley, the forum addressed ways in which villages, hospitality sectors, and businesses can strategically plan for the inclusion of people with disabilities in a way that strengthens the economic development — and the quality of life of the whole community.
