RAA Inclusion Partner Recruits for Blind Fencing

It’s so wonderful to be a part of things when our Inclusion Partners start expanding their outreach and impact! This month we celebrate as Ludus Fencing Studio hosts a clinic for fencers who are blind or have low vision!

The backstory: RAA worked with Ludus Fencing Studio’s owner, Semion Kiriakidi, to set up inclusive operations across his business. Several years ago, we partnered to add wheelchair fencing platforms to his equipment options, enabling him to provide some of the only parafencing lessons in the region. He also trains people who may play standing up and have diagnoses like stroke, TBI, multiple sclerosis, and more. This year, Semion will expand his fencing training as he continues to develop his programming for fencers who are blind or have low vision.

What you should know: If you are interested in fencing, you could contact Semion and set up a free introductory session so he can tell you more about the sport and get you started on some lessons!

Check out this recent Spectrum News story as reporter Sergio Cruel spent an evening at Ludus with two fencers who are blind.
