RAA Encourages Parks Planners to Include Disability Community

Rochester Accessible Adventures sees the current Monroe County Parks survey of parks surrounding Irondequoit Bay as an opportunity for the voices of potential users with disabilities to be incorporated into the master planning stages.

“Having those voices in at the planning stage is incredibly important because then inclusion and accessibility isn’t an add-on,” [Anita] O’Brien said. “It’s not being thought of after the fact when it’s usually more expensive to retrofit.”
