RAA supports Totally Inclusive solar eclipse experiences!

RAA has worked with the Total Solar Eclipse Stakeholder Task Force for the past 5 years to ensure people with disabilities were intentionally included in this phenomenal experience. RAA created and distributed resources for event planners and worked behind the scenes to answer questions and provide consultation and support to area event planners. RAA’s executive director, Anita O’Brien, traveled with Rochester Task Force members to present on inclusive events in Albuquerque New Mexico in 2023, ahead of the event.
Check out one local area organization’s efforts, spearheaded by Kiki Smith, outreach coordinator at the South East Area Coalition, to make sure that blind, deaf, hard of hearing or people with other disabilities can feel and share in the total eclipse together.
“Anybody can play; they just have to make adaptations,” said Kiki Smith, outreach coordinator at the South East Area Coalition in Rochester.
