Spring Into Accessible Adventures: Empowering Inclusion, One Adventure at a Time
This spring, Rochester Accessible Adventures (RAA) invites you to be part of a transformative movement—our Spring Into Accessible Adventures campaign. We’re on a mission to reshape recreation, sports, and tourism across New York State, ensuring that individuals with disabilities can fully participate alongside their families and friends.

Breaking Barriers, Building Inclusion
Since we opened in 2015, (YES! We are celebrating our 10 Year Anniversary!) RAA has been dedicated to dismantling the barriers that prevent people with disabilities from accessing health and wellness activities.
Through our unique Community Health Inclusion model, we’ve partnered with municipalities, businesses, and organizations to create environments where inclusion isn’t just an initiative—it’s the standard.
Our work has led to many tangible changes, such as the installation of adaptive equipment at recreational sites and the development of businesses that now offer inclusive programs that welcome everyone.
Check out how Genesee Land Trust and Ludus Fencing Studio, two of our Inclusion Partners, are making inclusion happen with RAA’s support!

Expanding Impact Through Strategic Partnerships
Our collaboration with the New York Power Authority and the Canal Corporation has been instrumental in spreading our model statewide. Together, we’ve launched the Accessibility Education Program, aiming to infuse inclusion into every facet of the Erie Canalway experience. This exciting work is not just about infrastructure; it’s about cultivating a culture where people of all abilities can explore, engage, and enjoy.

Stories Of Impact
At the center of our whole mission is People. Consider the story of Joe and his twin brother, Ben. For years, Joe watched from the sidelines as Ben enjoyed kayaking, unsure if he could ever join due to his disability. Through RAA’s partnership with Erie Canal Boat Company, Joe not only kayaked alongside his brother for the first time but also discovered a newfound sense of freedom and joy.
Then there’s Tony from Brockport, who, with the assistance of our CanalPal volunteers, experienced the thrill of kayaking and cycling, activities he once thought were beyond his reach. These stories are testaments to what’s possible when communities commit to inclusion.
Why Your Gift Matters Today
These moments don’t happen by accident; they’re built by donors like you who believe inclusion is non-negotiable. Yet even now, dozens of towns and businesses are on our wait-list for our mentored guidance, and thousands of Greater Rochester families have not yet heard of the growing list of inclusive opportunities. Without immediate funding, Lila’s story stalls at almost, and Marcus stays home.
Your gift of:
-
$50 could cover 20 minutes of ice time for Sled Hockey clinics
-
$110 could help sponsor a Fencing Clinic for blind and low-vision youth
-
$2500 seeds an entire month of events and efforts, reaching over 1,200 people
Give today, and you’re not just donating—you’re writing the next success story. Feel that tug in your chest? That’s the difference you can make this spring. Click “Donate Today” and turn possibility into reality for families who’ve waited long enough.
