It’s Time to RAA-ise the Bar!

Our Fall Fundraising Campaign is rolling out!  We are RAA-ising the Bar for True Inclusion!

It’s exciting…and here’s what we mean by “RAA-ising the Bar”!  We want to raise the standard for what it means to have true inclusion in recreation.  We want families and friends with a member with a disability to be able to access community recreation opportunities TOGETHER!  We don’t want families split apart, leaving the member with a disability behind while the others participate.  We want them ALL participating together!!  We want families and friends to be able to sign up for classes at their local recreation center TOGETHER.  THIS is true inclusion in recreation! And so, we are RAA-ISING THE BAR by raising the standard operating practices for any recreation business to this kind of inclusion.

How do we do this?

We transform recreation businesses so that they can include people with disabilities in what they do.  With our Community Health Inclusion (CHI) initiatives, we give them the kinds of training that ensure they KNOW HOW to do this every day they are open for business.

CHI works!

Our CHI Initiatives are working well!  Erie Canal Boat Company in Fairport NY showed a revenue increase of 22.3% in its first year of operating inclusively!!  This was rentals to individuals with disabilities AND to their family and friends that are now able to go out with them.  Pickled Power’s Bob Stokes has introduced inclusive pickleball to families with a member with Spinal Cord Injury, Parkinson’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, I/DD, and more.  His classes at local recreation centers now have families with a member with a disability enrolled in them!

More coming!

Our CHI Initiatives are spreading!  We have begun working with Victor Parks and Recreation (make sure you LIKE their Facebook page and ours to see updates!) and have begun a partnership with the City of Rochester R Centers.  AND MORE IS COMING!  Stay tuned and, even more, JOIN US!

Fall Campaign!

It’s time to ensure we have RAA Inclusion Specialists to spread around Monroe County and beyond as we take our CHI initiatives throughout the community!  YOU can help us reach our $40,000 goal by the end of the year!

And thank you so much for your continued support!

Cheers to inclusive adventures!
